We work with the USO (United Services Organization), specifically the USO of Central and Southern Ohio. The USO of Central and Southern Ohio serves 65 counties between Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky. 91% of their funding goes towards programs that directly benefit the welfare of over 150,000 service members and their families annually.
Since 1941, the USO has been the nation’s leading organization to serve the men and women in the U.S. military, and their families, throughout their time in uniform. From the moment they join, through their assignments and deployments, and as they transition back to their communities, the USO is always by their side. The United Service Organizations Inc. is an American nonprofit-charitable corporation that provides live entertainment, such as comedians, actors and musicians, social facilities, and other programs to members of the United States Armed Forces and their families.
How much of each registration do you donate?
We donate 10% of each registration fee. So if you were to register for the 5K when it was $34, we donate $3.40 to the USO.
Can I make an additional donation to the charity?
Absolutely! While registering their is a page that asks you if you would like to donate extra, 100% of that donation goes to the USO. Additionally at anytime you can visit OldGloryMarathon.com and click "donate" to make a donation.
Is the Advanced Running Project a non-profit?
Advanced Running is not a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization, but don’t let a tax classification fool you. Supporting charities is part of the foundation of who we are and what we believe in as a company. Since our founding in 2018 we have donated thousands to organizations in our community. Learn more about us and our philosophy on the About Us page.
Is my registration tax deductible?
Unfortunately, no. While a portion of your registration fee will be donated to charity, we are not a 501(c)(3) charity and are therefore unable to provide tax receipts to each individual registrant.
How do we know you donated the money?
After the event we will work with the USO to make a final payment to them and will provide documentation of the acknowledgement letter we receive from the USO on our Facebook page!
